It is demanded to increase the thermal environmental performance at the opening of the building which has large heat loss Moreover as a part of forest preservation, It is recommended to use positively the woods in the building. In these situations, a new type of multi-layered glass unit using wooden frame was developed. This is composed of two glasses holding wooden frame in between, and this is evaluated durability and fire resistance. In this paper, basic investigation was carried out purposed to intend from the viewpoint of heat load reduction. The survey with specimens of this unit were carried out in the summer and the winter, and the comparison evaluation with ready-made glass building materials was made.As a result, it was clear that multi-layered glass used wooden frame has as good thermal insulation performance as conventional multi-layered glass. Additionally, it was found that this unit had good heat shielding performance similar to heat absorbing glass and contributed to areduction of the cooling loads.
