Abstract

Urbanization is not merely a modern phenomenon, but a rapid and historic transformation of human social roots on a global scale, whereby predominant rural culture is being rapidly replaced by predominant urban culture. This phenomenal growth can result in not only economic opportunities, but also more energy consumption and pollution. Remote sensing has proven a useful way to distinguish different land types and analyze the situation of land-use. This study was based on Landsat 7 and 8 images, which is being wide-used in the subject of geography information system and applied it to Nanjing, China. This paper used confusion matrixes to help with the accuracy test and a transition matrix to present specific LUCC from 2000 to 2013.Further analysis was on the basis of the land-use variance from 2000 to 2013 by analyzing the images of Landsat 7 and 8.
