Abstract

In recent years, the population has been decreased in Japan. This depopulation causes two problems, increasing no-used and low-used lands in urban area and forming low-density area. Moreover, living environment will be degraded and the traffic trip well be increased. This study aims at making the map of predicted no-used and low-used lands by analyzing the factors of such lands by using GIS data, and building the compact urban structure scenarios with removing such lands from urban area in Fuchu City. Actually, the vacant lots and vacant houses are mapped. Then, generating factors of such lands are analyzed by using a discriminant analysis and increasing factors of such lands are also analyzed by using a multiple regression analysis. And the places of such lands in the future are predicted by using multiple regression equation and the predicted map are created. Finally, making urban structure scenarios based on the analysis above and evaluating them from the viewpoints of CO2 emissions. Consequently, these areas are occurred by the influences of the convenience and the history. Moreover, alternative scenarios that are made in this study are more efficient in CO2 emissions from cars than BAU scenario.
