Abstract

In order to understand the effect of aluminum concentration on texture formation behavior and microstructure, high-temperature uniaxial compression tests were performed on AZ system magnesium alloy(AZ31, AZ61, AZ91) at 723K with strain rate of 5.0 × 10-2s-1 under strain up to –1.0. Three kinds of cylindrical specimens for uniaxial compression tests were machined out from hot rolled plate having a basal texture. As a results of this study, work softening phenomenon and occurrence of dynamic recrystallization were observed at all kinds of specimens. Also, to clarify the texture measurements and crystal orientation distribution, X-ray diffraction methods were conducted on mid plane section of the specimens. Texture measurements showed that the main components and its sharpness of texture were varied depending on deformation conditions and Al concentrations. Especially, accumulation of basal texture influenced by increasing aluminum concentration on deformation condition.
