Abstract

Since the Great East Japan Earthquake, the importance of emergency generators has been increasing, as the role of supplying power for safety loads for keeping the building function, in addition to the role of supplying power for disaster loads for running the fire equipment required by law in power failure. In medical facilities, it is necessary to keep function that emergency generators has capacity to be able to supply loads for medical devices and electrical and be able to supply electricity for long time to rehabilitation lifeline. However, there is specified by law about installation emergency generators have small capacity and short working time for disaster loads, but there is no specified large and long one for safety loads need to keep business continuity of medical facilities in an emergency. Therefore, there are agendas to understand how much “supply capacity” and “supply time” are necessary as safety loads in medical facilities. Then in this research, we investigated excess or deficiency about “supply capacity” or “supply time” of emergency generators to medical facilities in disaster area by Great East Japan Earthquake. We checked validity those generator capacity and stock fuel amount.
