Five factors of the spatial form including building form, building density, building orientation, horizontal layout, and vertical layout are selected to study the influence of spatial form and microclimate on regional load. The coupled simulation is conducted to study the regional load variation on a typical winter day and a typical summer day in Xi'an. And calculate the contribution ratio of each factor to the load. The results show that in Xi'an, where northeast winds prevail throughout the whole year, increasing the building density and orienting the buildings to the south can effectively reduce the regional load demand; secondly, a building form with a smaller shape factor shows better energy-saving performance; finally, the buildings in the region can be staggered horizontally and gradually increase in height from south to north. The results of the study may provide some reference for designers to reduce the regional load demand in the planning stage
