JWACA2025-027: Urban Renewal Project of Tongzhou Beishan Hotel

Abstract

This renovation of a 1980s hotel in Tongzhou preserves its Jiangnan garden layout while upgrading facilities and spatial organization. Guided by a “gene recombination” concept, the project retains historical character but introduces modern technology and operations, allowing continuous use during construction. The outcome is a revitalized venue that balances heritage conservation with contemporary functional demands.
