JWACA2025-025: Xiangfu Bridge Historic District Renewal

Abstract

This urban renewal in Hangzhou preserves the historic fabric while introducing contemporary community functions. Through typological analysis of traditional spaces, the design integrates courtyards, lanes, and waterfront activity zones, adding new bridges, a school, and elderly care facilities. The project revitalizes the district as a lively, permeable neighborhood while protecting cultural heritage.
