Abstract

Zhuoting Plaza is a mixed-use complex in Qingdao, integrating office, residential, and public service functions. Notably, it is the city's first high-rise building using exposed fair-faced concrete as the primary façade material, chosen for its durability in the coastal saline and acid rain environment. The "E"-shaped layout creates a gradient from public to private spaces, improving urban connectivity and pedestrian flow. Over time, the concrete has aged gracefully, demonstrating a sustainable approach that combines material honesty, climatic resilience, and timeless aesthetics.
