With the continuously upgrade of people living condition, residents pose the higher quality to residence
and begin to focus on urban environmental problems. Thereby people are putting forward higher
requirements for livability of residential areas and microclimate in residential areas is an important factor
affecting living environment. Meanwhile, our country has stepped into a booming period of urban
construction. With increase of city density, the height of buildings in high-rise residential areas increases
ceaselessly. The layout of high-rise residential areas has several forms including determinant architectural
arrangement, closed architectural arrangement and mixed architectural arrangement. The layout of residential
district has an important influence on the microclimate in living areas. Therefore, discussing the reasonable
layout of buildings in residential areas and improving microclimate condition in living areas are of great
significance to improve people's living condition.
Climate factors that affect people's living environment including temperature, humidity and wind speed.
ENVI-met is a software that is relatively accurate for outdoor climate simulation. So I use ENVI-met to simulate
temperature, humidity and wind speed of typical residential districts. Through the comparison of the simulation
results under different building layouts, I will put forward some targeted proposals for the general planning of
residential areas.
