The thermal comfort distribution of four communities in Beijing, China is simulated in this paper. And the
characteristics of the elderly outdoor activities is investigated. Through the comparison of these two factors, the
study on the correlation between the outdoor activities and the thermal comfort of the elderly is carried out. The
correlation between the elderly outdoor activities and thermal comfort is confirmed in this paper. When the PET
value of about 23℃, there are more elderly people involved in group activities. When the PET value increases to
the range of 23-41℃, the number of group activities participants decreased significantly. At the same time, the
cases number of personal activity increases. In practical application, for new community, we should use the
shadow of vegetation or building to keep the thermal comfort of residential outdoor activities in Neutral and
Warm value. For community that have been built, we should improve the thermal environment there. In addition,
group activities ground should be set in the place has the most comfortable thermal environment in the
community
