Abstract

A university campus is filled with various facilities where a large amount of energy is used. There has been consistent acknowledgement that the effort to cope with climate change through saving of power consumption is not sufficient while energy consumption of domestic universities is increasing year by year. The paper aimed to reduce energy use by using energy feedback. It designed ‘nudge feedback’ by using nudge that has affected the domestic energy notice renewal. Also, in order to explore the effect of ‘nudge feedback’, there was a comparison with ‘general feedback’. In the first week, existing lighting energy use patterns were measured as a control group and in the second week, patterns of use of lighting energy of lecture rooms with ‘nudge feedback’ and ‘general feedback’ attached were measured. Based on the results, ‘general feedback’ affected more than ‘nudge feedback’. Also, based on the total of daily use of lighting energy, 4.5kwh, a total of daily use when ‘general feedback’ has been used, was saved. In conclusion, visualization of energy feedback affects while the power of effects is not significant. Therefore, energy feedback shall be supplemented additionally based on awareness survey of lecture room users.
