Escape equipment are installed and maintained in accordance with "ACT ON FIRE PREVENTION AND INSTALLATION, MAINTENANCE, AND SAFETY CONTROL OF FIRE-FIGHTING SYSTEMS" and "FIRE SAFETY STANDARDS" in Korea. In this case, the performance of fire-fighting equipment is specified by "FIRE SAFETY STANDARDS", "TYPE APPROVAL AND A PRODUCT INSPECTION", and “PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATION AND A PRODUCT INSPECTION". However, the performances specified in "FIRE SAFETY STANDARDS", "TYPE APPROVAL AND A PRODUCT INSPECTION", and “PERFORMANCE CERTIFICATION AND A PRODUCT INSPECTION" are mainly in terms of maintenance performance such as strength, corrosion resistance, water resistance, heat resistance, weight, and maximum load. Therefore, it is considered that adequate consideration has not been given to the placement or use of fire-fighting equipment necessary for fire extinguishing. In this study, we focused on the performance of fire-fighting equipment and analyzed the current performance of fire-fighting equipment and the performance that needs to be improved. Therefore, we will present a directional approach for the improvement of legislation regarding the performance of fire-fighting equipment.
