The smoke generated by the fire begins to fill from the ceiling, forming a layer of smoke and gradually descending to the floor. Due to the smoke layer formed, the occupants suffered difficulty walking and evacuated with low posture. In the evacuation situation, many studies have been conducted on the density of the population, physical characteristics, etc. but few studies have been conducted on changes in the height of the walking space. In this study, a walking experiment was conducted to investigate changes in walking speed according to changes in the walking space height and physical characteristics (height, pelvic height, knee height) of the occupants. Therefore, this study created a corridor with a length of 10m for the experiment and recruited experimental participants (23 men and women in total). In addition, the physical characteristics of the experimental participants were measured before the experiment, and the normal walking speed was measured. After that, a walking experiment was performed according to the change in the height of the walking space. Through the experimental results, we will analyze the changes in the walking speed according to the changes in the height of the walking space and the physical characteristics of the occupants.
