It is very important to minimize evacuation time so that residents can safely evacuate in the case of fire in general
buildings. Especially in the case of high-rise buildings, the majority of the vertical evacuation through the stairs can
shorten the evacuation time from the stair walk. In the meantime, the research on the crowd walking on the stairs
has been carried out in the unidirectional stairs, and there is no study considering the walking direction and the
walking density in the rotating stairs. Especially, when crowd walking in the general building stairs, there is a delay
phenomenon in the flow. In this study, the crowd walking speed according to the walking direction and the walking
density were derived through experiments. The experiment was divided into four types: left turn downward, right
turn downward, left turn upward, right turn upward. Through video analysis, we derived the change of the crowd
walking speed according to the walking direction and the walking density in the stair landings.
