Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the optimal kriging methods of the spatial statistical methods applied to grasp the spatial distribution characteristics of road traffic carbon emissions that represent an increasing share of carbon emissions of cities for their sustainable development which responds to climate changes. For this, first, carbon emissions of the observing points of traffic were selected by Tier 3 method of IPCC G/L using annual average mileage (VKT). Second, proper variogram modeling was set to calculate carbon emissions of non-observing points exactly and reliably by spatial correlation with the spatial statistical method. Third, the spatial distribution characteristics were grasped by verifying appropriacy of the variogram modeling by carrying out cross validation, comparing and evaluating the predictive ability in the applied kriging methods, and visualizing Transportation carbon emissions by the optimal kriging method. As the result, the general kriging method was shown as the optimal one in the methods applied to grasp the spatial distribution characteristics of Transportation carbon emissions exactly in the spatial statistical methods.
