With the rapid development of China's social economy and urbanization, the pursuit of comfortable life for
urban residents is becoming stronger, which leads to the rapid renewal of household appliances and the
continuous increase in the energy consumption. From 2010 to 2019, China's urban household electricity
consumption increased from 298.8 billion kWh to 583.8 billion kWh, accounting for 32 percent of the total
energy consumption. Electric energy has become the main energy consumption in family life. This paper builds
10 kinds of common household appliances in China’s urban housing, establishes energy consumption
calculation model to conduct statistical analysis on their consumption structure of electric energy. The results
show that: in electricity consumption, residents consumed the most electricity in power, it means 30% of
electricity is used to power appliances like computers and TVs,which is closely related to the increase of per
capita disposable income and the improvement of purchasing power. Cooling and lighting accounted for 25%
and 19% of total electricity consumption, as the increase of housing space leads to the need for more air
conditioners and electric lights to meet people's demand for a comfortable life.
