Abstract

The authors design a folded-plate structure using CLT. Using parametric design in the process of designing a
folded-plate structure, the authors define each element constituting a folded-plate structure as a variable, virtually
apply estimated loads of housing to an analysis model, and discuss the strain energy of each element and their
relations at the maximum displacement. This study is aimed at finding an optimal shape that maximizes the volume
of space per timber volume, while applying estimated loads to the analysis model. In this study, the authors discussed
the relation between each parameter and strain energy in the initial shape. Optimization was carried out to maximize
the inner volume of the gate-shaped frame folded-plate structure of CLT in accordance with Article 82, Item 4 of
the Order for Enforcement of the Building Standards Act. In addition, it is possible to decrease strain energy by
decreasing angle. Accordingly, the authors conducted local optimization for one unit by using the local maximum
obtained from the objective function as a local optimal value, in order to increase rigidity while keeping the space
of the building large
