Japan's heavy dependence on overseas energy has hurt real economic growth and even led to the outflow of national wealth and unstable electricity supply. How to ensure energy security has become an urgent problem. It is expected that the VPP (Virtual Power Plant) system can provide load leveling, absorption of excess supply of renewable energy, and supply in case of power shortage. Ikinoshima took the lead in introducing the VPP system in 2016. This paper calculates the electricity supply and demand situation of Ikinoshima and assumes the electricity supply and demand situation of traditional thermal power generation. By comparing the two cases, the results have shown that (1) the VPP system can reduce annual thermal power generation; (2) the VPP system can provide supplies when power is insufficient;(3) the VPP system can made the important contribution to the realization of low carbon.
