Huili County, located within the Sichuan Province of China, is widely recognized as a prominent cultural city situated in the Sichuan-Yunnan region. Moreover, it holds significant historical importance as an integral part of the ancient Southern Silk Road. The architectural structures existing within Huili Ancient City have endured the test of time, exhibiting a long-standing history and remarkable preservation, thereby contributing to their considerable academic research value. This study endeavors to present a comprehensive overview of Huili Ancient City's present condition by employing the creation of a mechanism diagram and the development of an architectural model to facilitate understanding. Additionally, the paper examines the general state of ancient city preservation, addressing prevailing challenges and concerns within this domain. By meticulously analyzing the distinctive features and characteristics of Huili Ancient City, the research establishes fundamental principles and general approaches towards the protection of ancient cities. The findings of this study aim to serve as a valuable reference for future research endeavors focused on the preservation of historical and cultural cities.
