Abstract

Rural areas are increasingly seeking to improve living environments through cultural initiatives, and the establishment of rural art museums has emerged as a promising strategy. This study focuses on investigating the impact of rural art museums on rural revitalization, with a particular focus on Weihai City. By examining the interplay between actor networks and cultural capital, this study aims to uncover the strategies and dynamics that contribute to the development and sustainability of rural art museums and their potential to improve living environments. Through in-depth interviews and participant observations, the study explores the formation and characteristics of participant networks within the local arts community. The findings of this study provide valuable insights into the importance of rural art museums in their development and impact as agents of change for the betterment of living environments. It highlights the collaborative efforts, knowledge sharing, and social capital that have contributed to the success of the museum, as well as the role of cultural capital in engaging audiences, fostering community engagement, and utilizing local resources to improve the environment. The research findings have practical implications for the acters involved in rural development and cultural revitalization programs in Weihai and other similar regions.
