Quality infrastructure is an essential element of national economic development. At present, the level of social infrastructures in Korea is at a good level, but it is also the time when the maintenance of facilities is needed. Recently, it is expected that the cost of maintenance will gradually increase due to the aging society infrastructure, and the demand for facility maintenance is expected to increase sharply. Effective safety diagnosis is important in order to maintain the functions of aging facilities and extend the life cycle. Exterior inspection, which is a part of safety diagnosis, is carried out by visual inspection using expert inspectors and on-board vehicle. However, current visual inspection is not only unreliable and subjective, but also has difficulty in accessing inspectors in high-rise areas. In addition, it is also burdensome in terms of economic efficiency, such as traffic congestion caused by vehicle control and safety equipment installation for inspectors safety. Therefore, in this study, we have to build a
background model for bridges in structures using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). This study is expected to be useful by providing a methodology for creating a background model based on UAV, which can be used in the future of the bridge exterior survey. In addition, if the quantification and mapping studies of the bridge damage information are performed in the future, it will be useful in the safety diagnosis of the structure together with the background
model generated in this study
