In order to solve the problem of low efficiency of the combined cooling, heating and power (CCHP) supply system in mid-season, an improved method for optimizing the use of accumulator tanks is proposed. It can be assumed that the accumulator tanks are the main supply equipment when the demand is low so that some units can be turn off. And when the tanks are insufficient, the units are turned on to supply the demand load. The efficiency
of the equipment will be improved through this operation. To verify the feasibility of this method, it is necessary to determine the energy loss caused by increasing the energy storage speed and partially charged energy storage. The fluent simulation software is used to simulate the change of the thermocline during the accumulator tanks in the process of energy storage and energy release. And the energy loss under different charge and discharge rates was
analyzed. Combined with the simulation results of TRNSYS, the energy utilization rate of the optimized method of “charging and recharging of the accumulator tanks within a day” has been studied.
