Miaotaizi Village and Moping Village, included in the China Traditional Villages list, are located in Liuba County, Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province, with similar natural and geographical environments. Through field investigation and comparative study, it is found that the load-bearing timber frame and construction techniques of the traditional houses in these two villages are significantly different. Traditional dwellings in Miaotaizi Village mostly use Chuandou-type timber frame, dry roof fixed system, and gable wall with interlaced bamboo and earth infill, while traditional dwellings in Moping Village mostly use Tailiang-type timber frame, traditional wet mortar roof fixed system, and flush gable roof. The results show that the differences in the architectural features of the traditional houses in the two villages prove the cultural exchanges on Shu Road reflected in architecture.
