Abstract

This study investigated annual energy consumption in a residential building in South Korea. The building concerned has an area of 93m2. The target family residing in it has 4 members including 2 dogs. Consistent temperatures were maintained for the pets during summer and winter, respectively. The family consumed 3,134kWh of energy throughout the one-year period investigated. Their monthly energy consumption ranged between 181 kWh (min.) and 424 kWh (max.). Heating oil consumption by the household was 900ℓ for the 12 month-period under investigation, with its average monthly consumption ranging between 30 ℓ and 200 ℓ. The family’s per-person average monthly energy consumption was 717kWh. Their average monthly energy use per the actual used area of the building was 51 kWh/m2, and 614.641 kWh/m2.y for the whole year.
