JAUE2018-037 A Study on Thermal Environment of the Slice Room Resident in Summer Season

Abstract

Slice rooms refer to the minimum spaces for the poor in cities to live, which are cheap living spaces where there is no space for face washing, cooking, and toilet or such spaces are shared by many households. Residents of such spaces are not provided with the minimum residential environment and cannot even maintain adequate thermal environments. Although energy welfare projects and studies are in progress in order to support such spaces, such 
projects are concentrated on winter. Since concern for slice rooms is relatively low in summer, residents of slice rooms are neglected in summer. Therefore, slice rooms in summer should be investigated. In this study, slice rooms were visited firsthand to conduct a questionnaire survey and thermometers were installed in the slice rooms to measure the thermal environments in the slice rooms for one week. Architectural elements such as the basic 
composition of the slice rooms and the number of floors were investigated and whether there was any air conditionerinstalled was examined. In addition, based on the measured temperature data, slice room temperatures were predicted based on outdoor temperatures to figure out how much uncomfortable thermal environments the slice rooms were exposed to.
