Natural and manmade disasters have not only caused physical damage but also significant economic losses. Therefore,there has been an inereasing demand for Business Continuity Management and Business Continuity Plan. However,measures to continue the fiunction of buildings and facilities are often overlooked, The focus has been devoted to preparedness, whereas measures to be implemented after the occurrence of a disaster has received limited attention. In thise paper, the scope encompassed by a bullding continulty plan is described trom preparedness to recovery aiter emergency response. There are special focuses on the factors of disruption and systematic organization. A recovery curve showing the operability of various functions over time is presented for model buildings damaged during the Great Hanshin-Awajike. A practical functionality-recovery curve is suggested for Building Function Continuity plan.
