Abstract

Barrier-free design has become common knowledge, but something to find is invisible and difficult. Because what is essential is invisible to the eye. Barrier is various from visible things to invisible, and we must compatible with surroundings reminding of imperfect guideline.
As the literal meaning of its word, Barrier-free notion was initiated that obstacle things to move around should be removed. And then step and stairs were accelerated to think as barrier. On the contrary, those who are involved in nursing care for the elderly don't seem to think stairs as barrier. And we can see steps everywhere in the Organic Architecture.
So this questionnaire survey is an attempt to make an observation of step and stairs from another angle, which is under better consideration of Barrier free.
What is barrier is still argumentative and controversial issue.
