Abstract

In this paper, the results of basic experiments conducted to implement personalized air conditioning using
bio-signals acquired from wearable devices are introduced.
Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) control is air conditioning system aimed at person’s amenity, and it is recently
introduced. But generally, PMV system is based on indicators of universal comfort that based on the steady state
experiment result. So, it cannot consider individual characteristics like disease or biological characteristics. The
PMV controller operates on the assumption of values for like clothing insulation and metabolic rate, making it
difficult to respond to body changes in real time.
In this study, using wearable devices the wearer’s metabolic rate and bio-signals are measured. And using it for
PMV control. Assuming that the required factors are metabolic rate, respiration volume, heart rate,
electrocardiography(ECG), and body temperature, this paper proposed the most suitable elements for personalized
air conditioning among these factors
