Abstract

When a disaster breaks out in a building, for which ACM were used, the ACM are damaged and broken, causing a lot more quantity of asbestos to fly in all directions than usual. The asbestos flying like this is lethal to those who work at the disaster scene, such as volunteer workers and rescue workers, etc. For this reason, overseas research circles have actively proceeded with the study on asbestos in the event of disasters. However, the research related to asbestos is no more than one piece of the research in Korea; moreover, the research related to emergency measures, which should be executed at the scene when asbestos is flying, is non-existent. Accordingly, this study deducted 4 sorts of emergency measures suited for the characteristics of asbestos damage which arises due to disaster occurrence by analyzing the property of asbestos damage and the guidelines on asbestos in the event of disasters abroad. Later on, this study could be used as basic data in relation to countermeasures against asbestos, which are to be developed by the government and local governments in the event of disaster occurrence
