Abstract

To serve better welfare conditions and environment to college student who come from places from home, each college has constructed dormitory to accommodate more students year by year. On the view point of fire prevention regulation, the dormitory has currently been classified as multiple housings in Korea. Although some features of dormitories are analogous to that of multiplex housings as numerous residents are concentrated, it is incongruent to apply identical standards of multiplex housings to dormitories in that ways of usage, building disposition and operation methods are mutually different. For instance, there is no limit to pass the building in apartment buildings, but contrastively, dormitories forbid access in specific time. If dormitories close all the rest of doors except main gate during time, it is obvious that the possibility of evacuation and count of survivor will be lower. And type of dormitory buildings are diversifying. Building type has directly influence on evacuation performance. In this study, thus, set the scenarios based on characteristic and types of dormitory, measure Require Safe Egress Time to evaluate evacuation performance.
