When we assess a fire risk of large complex buildings, a fire and evacuation simulation models are usually used. However, most fire and evacuation models are performed respectively, furthermore only Available Safe Egress Time (ASET) and Required Safe Egress Time (RSET) are selected as the main factors for evaluating life safety in a building fire emergency. As a result, occupants’ evacuation routes actually effected by fire hazard or products such as smoke, soot, radiation heat flux and toxic gas are generally ignored even though they should be reflected. Therefore this study used buildingEXODUS and SMARTFIRE as a coupled fireevacuation simulation model to estimate agents’ travel route and time with fire growth simultaneously to judge occupant life safety in the most similar real fire accident environment.
