Abstract

With the further acceleration of China's urban construction, urban renewal has become an important social
problem. Among them, the elevator construction problem of the old resentence is one of the most important
problems.
According to United Nations classification criteria, a country or region with 65 years of age and older accounts
for 7% of the total population means the region is considered to be entering an ageing society. According to
official statistics, China's population aged 65 and over will be 158.31 million in 2017, or 11.4%. It is the social
responsibility of a city to provide every old man with the convenience of living in a safe and dignified old age.
Therefore, for every elderly person to solve the "upstairs difficulties" problem is the architect must solve the
problem. However, in the real old residence renovation, residential elevator construction is faced with a large
number of unexpected problems.
Through the questionnaire distributed by 3 old residential area, this study obtained the expected value of
people's demand for and opposition to the construction of elevators. In addition, this paper also analyzes the
resistance and causes of this seemingly beneficial social behavior for all. The conclusion of this paper hopes to
provide suggestions for the formulation of the future elevator renovation policy.
