Environmental noise generated by equipment and the like includes low-frequency sound (also called
“infrasound”) of less than 20 Hz, which can be difficult to recognize. Hence, existing psychological evaluation
methods have the issue of not being able to understand its real impact sufficiently. On the other hand, it is hoped
that brain-waves can be applied in methods to examine the impact of low-frequency sound because they can
directly capture the environmental impact as physiological data. In the research on the influence that the sound
environment has on the brain-waves conducted by Tahara et al., It is reported that the Į-wave voltage decreases
with respect to the unpleasant sound in the audible range. From these backgrounds, the authors also conducted
experiments and verifications on the brain-waves when exposed to low-frequency sound, and also Measurement
surveys on the actual state of low-frequency sound generated from equipment.
