Abstract

Loess is considered a highly low-carbon and environmentally friendly construction material. Loess is widely distributed in north-west China, but its inherent disadvantages such as low strength and susceptibility to cracking or collapsing pose great challenges to engineering and construction. Currently, China produces a large amount of industrial waste every year, causing serious environmental pollution. Fly ash, as one of the solid wastes, can be used to improve the mechanical properties and thermal insulation of loess. This not only meets the needs of people, but also is more in line with the national strategic goal of low carbon emission reduction. In this paper, the mechanical properties of loess with post-flotation circulating fluidised bed fly ash CFBFA (1) and post-flotation pulverised coal furnace fly ash PCFFA (1) are explored. It is concluded that the post-flotation circulating fluidised bed fly ash (CFBFA) has more mechanical properties than the post-flotation pulverised coal furnace fly ash (PCFFA), and when 70% of CFBFA (1) and 30% of PCFFA (1) mixed materials are combined with loess, it shows the optimum compressive strength, which can reach up to 2.1 MPA at 7 days and 2.8 MPA at 28 days.
