JAUE2014-016 Present situation and challenges of traditional villages in gully regions of Loess Plateau---Based on the practice investigation of Qian Yang County, Shaanxi Province

Abstract

In the Loess Plateau of China, living style changed dramatically as the rapid economic development and Chinese reform and opening since 1980s. However, the development of rural planning and architecture is relative
 backward.  This study chooses Qian Yan County; a place owns typical traditional architectures, as the research area. Through the analysis of present situation of new production style and living conditions, this study presents the most important and urgent problem, how to achieve sustainable development without losing their regional features as well as supply a better living environment for residents.
