Abstract

Korean government is conducting energy retrofits for existing public buildings to reduce carbon emissions in the building sector, and research on building energy reduction measures is actively progressing. Studies on airtightness performance, which is closely related to building ventilation, are also being conducted. However, these studies are mainly focused on residential buildings, with limited research on the airtightness performance of educational facilities. This study aims to evaluate the airtightness performance of university classrooms by type through blower door tests. Classrooms are classified by type, and their airtightness performance is measured and comparatively evaluated using a blower door. Based on the derived airtightness performance, the ventilation rate required to maintain appropriate air quality in classrooms is calculated. Using the calculated ventilation rate, we propose a ventilation strategy that can secure appropriate air quality while reducing cooling loads in summer.
