JAUE2020-015: Analysis on the research value of traditional folk dwellings in western Zhejiang

Abstract

Exploring the inherent law of the occurrence and evolution of architectural forms, and the influence of human factors and natural factors on the architectural characteristics of the site elements, is one of the important tasks of traditional residential research. The western Zhejiang region has the attributes of overall uniformity and local differences in terms of site elements, which ensures that the traditional dwellings in the region are in the same type as a whole and locally heterogeneous within a certain range. An in-depth analysis of western Zhejiang can help us to sort out the site information and architectural characteristics of traditional houses in western Zhejiang, and to reflect the possible correspondence between site attributes and architectural characteristics, and thus explain the value of western Zhejiang region in the study of traditional folk dwellings.
