Abstract

Daegu City, South Korea has established a plan to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions in response to climate change. According to the plan, by 2020, its greenhouse gas emissions will be 5% less than its greenhouse gas emissions in 2005. The results of the analysis of 13 greenhouse gas reduction programs related to the buildings presented in the basic plan indicated that the planned greenhouse gas reduction by 2020 is equivalent to an estimated 727,000 tons of CO2 per year. However, as DaeguCity’s building energy consumption in 2010 represented an approximately 7% increase from 2005, the city needs to supplement its buildings’ greenhouse gas reduction plans by implementing relevant programs based on an analysis of the buildings’ energy supply plans.
