As the occupants evacuate from fired building, they should be found the visual information such as exit signage. However, it is not easy to find the visual information considering the emergency situation. Most of evacuating occupants are crowded on evacuation route. And they just follow the person in front or effort to find information among crowd. Therefore, we conduct the evacuation experiment about characteristics of obtaining visual information in accordance with position(front/middle/rear) in crowd. The result showed that the "front" oserved phosphorescent exit sign, passage exit sign and "next person" at 44.29%, 26.30% and 22.58%, in that order. People "middle" and "rear" observed "front person" at 80.24%, 80.20%. Gaze characteristics changed according to location within the crowd. Crowd leader leading the crowd responded to light such as exit signs. The person in "middle" and "rear" tended to follow the crowd leader, the result showed.
