JAUE2022-033: Transformation of Qingdao Liyuan Historic Block under Cultural Export

Abstract

As a unique form of historical architecture in Qingdao, Liyuan is challenging to be integrated with modern cities, and the current research on the regeneration strategy of Qingdao Liyuan is mainly in the elaboration and analysis of the current problems of the block, lacking innovative exploration of functional spaces such as commerce, leisure, and entertainment. This study selects the Sifang Road area of Qingdao Liyuan, extracts the architectural elements based on the typological approach, and proposes a block renovation scheme with cultural export as the main concept by analyzing the two characteristics of Liyuan civic culture and community economy. By studying the needs of different groups of people for architectural functions, the proposal transforms the structural forms and spaces of old buildings from innovative cultural and leisure, community commerce, and other conceptual spaces to stimulate the new vitality of the block
