The purposes of this study were to analyze the public bathhouse workers’ awareness of fire hazard and to evaluate the
evacuation safety using a simulation of fire and evacuation. The overall awareness of the workers on firefighting
equipment and evacuation facilities was examined through a questionnaire survey. The simulations of fire and evacuation
showed that the ASET was 202 seconds while the RSET was 235 seconds, indicating bottleneck occurs as evacuation
safety was not secured. Hence, in order to reduce the bottlenecks, improvements such as [ALT-1: Installing outdoor stairs]
[ALT-2: Increasing stair width] [ALT-3: Installing outdoor stairs + Increasing stair width] were suggested through which
the RSET was shortened significantly within the ASET, thereby securing evacuation safety
