JAUE2017-113: A Study on the Present Status and Problems on Disaster Safety R&D Project in Korea

Abstract

Recently, natural disaster, social disaster, and marine disaster are becoming diverse, larger and more complex in 
worldwide. As a result, countries around the world are making heavy investments on the development of Disaster 
Safety Technologies. Korea has commissioned the Ministry of Public Safety and Security to administer Disaster 
Safety Technology research and development projects designed to protect people's lives and properties against 
various disasters, but the level of Disaster Safety Technologies falls far behind the technologies in other sectors. 
This study aims to identify the overview, present status, and problems associated with the R&D projects led by the 
Ministry of Public Safety and Security, conduct comparative analysis with key industrial countries and other fields, 
and to propose how to properly manage R&D projects for Disaster Safety
