This paper is about the research of how to make the facility management (FM) database. First, the authors made an investigation of the plant register of Government Buildings Department, Japan. There are so much items in the register, such as the building name, location and building structure. It takes time to finish such a plant register in a large scale building. ISO 16739:2013 became an open international standard for BIM data, which specifies a conceptual data schema and an exchange file format for data sharing in the construction and facility management industries. It can be shared among software applications used by the various participants in a building construction or facility management project, therefore it is necessary to integrate the input of FM database and building information. Then, the authors built a 2-storey building with ArchiCAD, and set the properties for the IfcEntities, such as IfcProject, IfcBuilding and IfcBuildingStorey. Finally, draw a conclusion that it is available to use ArchiCAD to fill the items required in the plant register of Government Buildings Department by the PropertySet method. The details of the PropertySet method are illustrated in this article.
