As an important component of the urban pension facilities system, the study of the spatial accessibility of
community pension facilities can provide important inspiration for its spatial layout. The two-step floating
catchment area method and potential model are two main methods to measure spatial accessibility. This paper is
based on ArcGIS technology in Beilin District of Xi'an city as an example, using the two methods of reachability
calculation and visualization display of results to study the community care facilities layout and the degree of
scarcity in Xi'an Beilin, also studies the important factors which influent the spatial accessibility of community
pension facilities. Finally, this paper estimates and compares the results of two methods and finds that potential
model is more authentic than two-step floating catchment area method in spatial accessibility measurement results
of pension facilities due to the distance attenuation factor.
