Abstract

Today, generations of Chinese architects have built a lot of masterpieces by absorbing more or less garden
meanings from Jiangnan gardens. Therefore, in this paper, by reading the book of “Thirty-one Scenes of Humble
Administrator Garden”, it is going to explore the influence of ancient scholars' taste on the aesthetic consciousness
of Chinese morden&contemporary architects. This paper organizes and summarizes the 31 pictures and described
11 of them. By describing these paintings, I found 4 points to identify the aesthetic consciousness that ancient
taste is left to us. The points are as follows, 1. “Living” symbols (Garden elements) 2. Toward a view with vista
(Human perspective) 3. Insinuation and hint 4. Blank-leaving. The contribution of these points is that, for Chinese
Morden&Contemporary architects, they should not only focus on the structure of the image or buinding, more
importantly, they should convey the spatial aesthetic consciousness of the image outside the image. For
human-being, landscape painting is a way to realize a poetic living of modern people, which can also bring
spiritual satisfaction and aesthetic needs to us.
